What is residential pet waste removal?
Residential pet waste removal is a scheduled visit where our team walks your yard and picks up the dog waste, so you don't have to. Most families choose weekly service, our most popular plan for a consistently clean yard. Every-other-week visits suit yards with less traffic, and for very light use, call or text us about monthly visits. Your first clean is free. No catch, and no signup for ongoing service required.
We started Trusty Tail because of our own dogs, Casper and Ave. We wanted a yard that was safe for them to play in and safe for us to walk through, and we found plenty of neighbors in Pearland and Southeast Houston who wanted the same for their fur-babies.
What happens on a service day?
Every visit follows the same routine, so you always know what to expect:
- 1You get a text when we're on the way.
- 2We let ourselves into the yard through the gate, so you don't need to be home.
- 3We walk the yard in a grid pattern, from fence line to fence line, so piles along fences, under bushes and in corners get picked up too.
- 4We double-bag the waste and place it in your designated outdoor trash bin.
- 5We close the gate behind us and send you a photo of it.
- 6You get a second text when your yard is clear.
Between yards, we sanitize our tools and our boots with a disinfectant, so we never carry germs from someone else's yard into yours. We're members of aPaws, the Association of Professional Animal Waste Specialists.
Can my dogs stay outside while you scoop?
Yes, if they're friendly. We love dogs, and if yours are comfortable with visitors in their territory, they're welcome to keep us company. If your dog is protective, anxious or aggressive, please keep them indoors on your service day. For our team's safety, if a dog shows aggression, we'll leave the yard.
Do I need to be home?
No. Most of our clients are at work or running errands on their service day. All we need is access to the yard: an unlocked gate, or a gate code we keep on file. Under our terms, a visit we can't get into is still charged, so please make sure the gate is open or the code is current on your service day.
What about rocks, mulch, ivy and leaves?
We scoop rocks, mulch and ivy, too. Waste in dense ivy, tall weeds, loose river rock or thick mulch is much harder to remove than waste on grass, so we remove every visible pile we can, but we can't promise a spotless result where waste blends into the landscaping.
Our rule of thumb: if we can't see it, we can't scoop it. During the fall leaf drop, or when the grass is overgrown, waste is easy to miss. We still walk our full grid, and keeping the lawn mowed and the leaves cleared helps us get every pile.
What happens when it rains, or on a holiday?
A little rain doesn't stop us: we complete our routes in light to moderate rain. If the weather turns dangerous, with lightning, high winds, flooding or freezing, we pause and text you right away. Depending on the schedule, we'll come on the next clear day or pick up the extra on your next regular visit.
We observe major federal holidays so our team can spend them with their families. If your service day falls on one, like Thanksgiving or Christmas, we'll let you know ahead of time and come the day before or the day after.
How is residential service priced?
Weekly service starts at $90 a month for one dog, and every-other-week service starts at $70 a month. Your exact price depends on how many dogs use the yard, how often we come and your yard's size and terrain. A quote takes about a minute: tell us about your dogs, your schedule and your ZIP code, and your price shows right away.
Monthly service is billed in advance on the 1st of each month, with a credit or debit card kept on file. If you start mid-month, you pay a prorated amount for the weeks left, then roll into the regular billing on the 1st. There are no long-term contracts: pause or cancel with at least 48 hours' notice before your next visit. Traveling with your dogs? Tell us 48 hours ahead and we'll skip that week, and you won't be billed for it.
What else can I add?
Yard sanitizing and deodorizing can be added to your visits. Ask about it when you get your quote and we'll explain how it works for your yard. One-time cleanups are available too, for a yard that has gotten ahead of you or before guests come over. See how pricing works.

Frequently asked
Residential questions, answered.

Is dog poop good for my lawn?
No. Dog waste isn't a fertilizer like cow manure. A dog's high-protein diet leaves it full of nitrogen, and left on the grass it burns the yellow and brown dead spots you see in so many yards. Regular scooping keeps the lawn greener.
How often should my yard be scooped?
Weekly, for most yards. It's our most popular plan because waste never has time to build up. Every other week suits lower-traffic yards. Monthly visits are available too, though most yards do better on a weekly or every-other-week schedule.
Do you do one-time cleanups?
Yes. A one-time cleanup is a good fit when the yard has gotten ahead of you, you're getting ready for guests, or you want a clean start before regular service. Call or text (832) 981-1363 to set one up.
Can you sanitize or deodorize the yard?
Yes, as an add-on to your visits. Ask about it when you get your quote and we'll explain how it works for your yard. Our own tools and boots are sanitized between every yard either way.
Do you scoop if it's raining?
Yes, in light to moderate rain. We pause only when the weather turns dangerous, like lightning, high winds or flooding. Then we text you, and either move your visit to the next clear day or pick up the extra on your next scheduled visit.
