Your Friendswood pooper scooper
Dog poop removal in Friendswood.
Friendswood started in 1895, when Quakers Frank J. Brown and Thomas H. Lewis chose 1,538 acres framed by the woods along Chigger, Clear, Coward's and Mary's creeks, then recorded the colony's name at the Galveston courthouse. Clear Creek still splits the city between Galveston County and Harris County, and the whole town shares the 77546 ZIP code.
Big trees are part of living in Friendswood, and so are the large, shady yards that come with them. Our Friendswood neighborhoods include Imperial Estates, The Forest and West Ranch. Mature trees bring a heavy leaf drop in the fall, and leaves hide dog waste, so we walk those yards in a tight grid and ask that the lawn be kept mowed so we can see every pile.
When NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center opened ten miles away in 1962, Friendswood grew into a suburb for families working there and in Houston. The city has made room for dogs, too: a 1.6-acre dog park with a bone-shaped splash pad, leashed dogs welcome in most city parks, and a goal of a dog waste station in every one of them.

Why it matters here
Clear Creek divides Friendswood's Galveston County and Harris County sides, and Chigger, Coward's and Mary's creeks wind through town on their way to it. The city's February 2025 Stormwater Management Program says TCEQ has found bacteria in Clear Creek and several of its tributaries sometimes above state standards for swimming and wading, and that bacteria from human and animal waste can signal disease-causing microorganisms. The program includes pet waste education, and the goal of a dog waste station in every city park is part of it.
