Your Pearland pooper scooper
Dog poop removal in Pearland.
Pearland began as a siding switch on the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway in 1882, and in 1893 it took its name from the pear trees that grew all over the area. The city has since spread from Brazoria County into Harris and Fort Bend counties, and most Pearland homes have a 77581 or 77584 ZIP code.
Pearland is known for its master-planned communities and well-kept lawns. Between the drive on Highway 288 and keeping up with neighborhood standards, scooping the backyard is the chore most Pearland dog owners would gladly hand off. Our Pearland neighborhoods run from Shadow Creek Ranch on the west side to Silverlake, Southwyck, Massey Oaks and Green Tee Terrace.
Once the yard is handled, the city has good places to take a dog: two fenced dog parks, the pond trails at the John Hargrove Environmental Complex and the paved paths of the Shadow Creek Ranch Nature Trail. Every one of them asks owners to pick up, and so does the city code, with fines of up to $2,000.

Why it matters here
Clear Creek runs along Pearland, and the city's Clear Creek Trail Master Plan lays out a 21-mile trail beside it, from FM 521 on the west side to Dixie Farm Road on the east. TCEQ lists Pearland in the Clear Creek watershed, which doesn't meet the state's standards for swimming and wading because of high fecal bacteria levels. H-GAC's watershed protection plan names pet waste as the major contributor and asks residents to pick up after their pets. At the John Hargrove Environmental Complex, floating wetlands help filter pollutants on their way to and from Mary's Creek.
